A declaration on establishing a partnership of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) for climate, innovation, green economy, and trade was signed on the sidelines of COP29 Thursday, Report informs, citing the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy.
The signing took place during the Ministerial Meeting on the OTS Partnership for Climate, Innovation, Green Economy, and Trade.
At the event, Economy Minister of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov emphasized that Azerbaijan highly values cooperation with Turkic states and supports integration processes between the countries. It was noted that joint initiatives will make important contributions to achieving positive changes in areas such as climate action and green economy. For this purpose, the OTS Partnership for Climate, Innovation, Green Economy, and Trade is being established as a platform to support member states' green economic transition. This initiative aims to promote closer cooperation for climate-smart development and fair green transition. Within this framework, it targets the development of national green development strategies, creation of green energy zones, improvement of climate financing mechanisms, support for green SMEs and startups, and other important work.
The ministerial meeting was attended by OTS Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliyev, International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC) Chief Operating Officer Nazim Nurdali, Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Nurlan Baibazarov, Uzbekistan's Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov, Kyrgyzstan's Minister of Economy and Trade Sanjarbek Bolotov, Türkiye's Deputy Minister of Trade Mustafa Tuzcu, and Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Department Head Elmar Mammadov. The speeches provided information about climate and green economy policies implemented in Turkic countries. The importance of strengthening inter-country partnership and integration processes was emphasized in terms of common welfare and adequate approach to global challenges. It was stated that through this partnership, member states demonstrate their commitment to sustainable development, addressing climate issues, and promoting regional economic growth. Azerbaijan's significant contributions to strengthening partnership among Turkic states were highlighted.
