Nakhchivan hosts landmark conference on climate change and human rights

The Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan is hosting a groundbreaking conference on climate change and human rights within the framework of the Green World Solidarity Year and Azerbaijan's role as host of COP29, Report informs.

The conference, held on July 19 at the Nakhchivan Business Center, is a collaborative effort between the Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the Institute of Law and Human Rights, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

This initiative is part of a broader campaign to raise awareness about the impacts of climate change on human rights.

The event has drawn participation from various sectors, including Gunay Nazarova, an employee of the authorized representation of the President of Azerbaijan in Nakhchivan, Gunay Rzayeva, Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) of Nakhchivan, Alessandra Roccasalvo, Acting UNDP Resident Representative in Azerbaijan, officials from state and local executive authorities, representatives from civil society institutions, environmental volunteers.
