Important work was done within COP27 and COP28 for the functioning of the Loss and Damage Fund, COP29 president, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan Mukhtar Babayev said, Report informs.
"We, as COP29 chairs, continue this work. The full functioning of the fund will be the result of many years of effort. We are also grateful for the cooperation with the World Bank," he noted.
The minister added that COP29 will be a key step towards achieving solidarity goals for a green future.
"If we don't take measures today to save nature and humanity, the consequences in the future will be very serious. We need to identify long-term support projects. Countries that have promised to allocate funds to the fund must keep their word," Babayev said.
