Mukhtar Babayev: Azerbaijan soon to present two-year transparency report

Azerbaijan plans to present a Biennial Transparency Report (BTR) this week, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, COP29 President Mukhtar Babayev said at a roundtable on global climate transparency with the participation of ministers from Japan, South Africa, US, Italy, and Kazakhstan at COP29, Report informs.

According to Babayev, strengthening ambitions requires clear plans to maintain the 1.5-degree target through Nationally Determined Contributions, National Adaptation Plan, and the Biennial Transparency Report (BTR).

The Baku Declaration on Global Climate Transparency presented today emphasizes the collective determination to promote transparency and international cooperation.

According to Babayev, it works in tandem with the Baku Transparency Platform.

"On one hand, we confirm our commitment to transparency in climate actions. On the other hand, we create a platform for concrete actions on transparency," he noted.

"I urge to view COP29 as an opportunity to take more effective steps in this direction. The Baku Declaration will stimulate more effective steps in matters of global climate transparency and global climate change," added Babayev.
