Minister: Azerbaijan proposes joint initiatives with Saudi Arabia for COP29

During its presidency of COP29, Azerbaijan is proposing to implement joint initiatives and events with Saudi Arabia, Samir Sharifov, Azerbaijan's Finance Minister, said at an event dedicated to the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Report informs.

"We thank Saudi Arabia for its support to Azerbaijan within the framework of COP29. As the host country, Azerbaijan is contributing to the fight against the negative impacts of climate change and is making efforts to mobilize countries around the world for this important event. Considering Saudi Arabia's rich experience in transitioning to 'green' energy, we propose the implementation of joint initiatives and activities during Azerbaijan's presidency of COP29," Sharifov noted.

The minister emphasized that the effective meetings held so far between the two countries to identify joint efforts related to climate change lay a solid foundation for future cooperation in this direction.

In turn, Essam bin Saleh Al-Jutaili, Saudi Arabia's ambassador to Azerbaijan, noted that Riyadh is confident that Azerbaijan will successfully organize the COP29 conference in November this year.
