Majnun Mammadov: Insufficient attention paid to farmers’ problems in global climate dialogue

Farmers' issues receive insufficient attention in global climate dialogue, Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov said at the event "Implementation of the Baku Harmony Climate Initiative for Farmers: Expanding Opportunities to Increase Farmers' Climate Resilience" within COP29, Report informs.

He noted that not only in Azerbaijan but also at the global level, the agricultural community faces serious impacts of climate change: "Agriculture is a crucial sector on a global scale. However, our farmers, who are at the forefront of agricultural production, remain the most vulnerable to climate change."

The minister noted that rising temperatures, unstable weather, soil degradation, and water scarcity create serious problems for farmers: "They receive too little attention in the global climate dialogue.
