The Baku Harmoniya Climate Initiative for Farmers, launched today within the framework of COP29, aims to raise farmers' awareness, support climate initiative funding, and address important problems facing agriculture, Azerbaijan's Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov said at today's press conference during COP29.
Report quotes the minister as saying agriculture is a vital sector of Azerbaijan's economy, ensuring GDP growth and national food security.
"Over the past decade, Azerbaijan has made significant progress in modernizing the sector, investing in technology, promoting sustainable practices, and diversifying farms, while prioritizing youth engagement. Strengthening human resources capacity, developing scientific research and innovation, improving water resource management systems, and implementing green subsidy programs to encourage sustainable practices are at the core of our strategy," Mammadov added.
