Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of IDEA Public Union, participated in discussions on increasing youth environmental literacy at COP29.
According to Report, she spoke at discussions on "Investing in Education for Climate Sustainability: Strengthening Early Development and Environmental Literacy," jointly organized by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and IDEA.
Aliyeva emphasized that active youth participation in solving environmental problems plays an important role in combating climate change on a global scale.
She noted that IDEA has been a member of IUCN since 2014 and spoke about various activities implemented during this period focused on climate change and responsible attitudes toward nature, including organizing eco-camps, information campaigns, and producing documentary films.
The event was also attended by Azerbaijan's Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev, IUCN Director General Grethel Aguilar, Earthday.org Education Director Bryce Coon, and young eco-activist Janina Gevara representing the Decarbonize program of the Global Education Center. They shared various ideas on the topic and noted the role of environmental literacy.
