Lastaev: Cargo transportation via Middle Corridor up by 68% since early 2024

The volume of cargo transportation through the Middle Corridor in January-October of this year increased by 68% compared to the same period last year, reaching 3.8 million tons, Kazakhstan's Deputy Minister of Transport Talgat Lastaev said during a ministerial roundtable on "Sustainable and Digital Middle Corridor and Beyond" at COP29.

Report informs that, according to him, container transportation along the corridor has increased approximately threefold over the past year, reaching 46,300 units.

The deputy minister noted that the Middle Corridor already has significant importance for the global transport community: "Its efficiency is influenced by both the state of infrastructure, including soft elements, and the development of multimodality through the integration of all transport modes. The volume of cargo transportation along the corridor continues to grow."
