John Giusti: ‘COP29 is an important platform for industrial and digital sector to achieve climate goals’

The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) to be held in Baku is an important platform for achieving climate goals and zero emissions as an industry and digital sector, John Giusti, Chief Regulatory Officer for the GSMA, said at the GSMA M360 Eurasia 2024 international conference held in Baku, Report informs.

Giusti stated that COP29, which will be held in Baku at the end of the year, is very important from the point of view of the environment and sustainability: "I am very happy to cooperate with Azercell mobile operator on the eve of COP29 in Baku. This year, of course, there is a lot to be done, and COP29 is a very important event in this direction.

“Today, approximately two-thirds of the mobile industry has committed to reducing carbon emissions with science-based targets in the near term for their revenue," he added.

According to him, there are several issues that stand out in the field of technology today: "Looking into the future, I see that artificial intelligence and sustainability will become a very important part of life. Artificial intelligence and other developing technologies have a great impact on our societies. Although it is still early days, the opportunities are great. It is important to create an appropriate regulatory environment and make strategic investments to realize this potential."
