A seminar titled "Azerbaijan: Rediscovering Ourselves. A Historical and Social Geopolitical Assessment" was held at the University of Molise (Unimol) in Italy, Melaike Huseyin, a Turkish citizen of Azerbaijani origin living in Italy, an orientalist, philologist, and translator, told Report.
During the three-hour seminar, Professor Lorenzo Scillitani recalled that the 29th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) is being held in Baku and commended the conference. The professor emphasized Azerbaijan's growing importance not only for the region but also for the whole Europe.
The professor noted that Azerbaijan is located in the most sensitive geography, the Caucasus, and said that meetings with various scholars and world-renowned experts on this topic will continue.
Later, Huseyin recalled the mass killing of peaceful civilians in the streets of Baku on January 20, 1990, and spoke about the collapse of the Soviet Union and the current situation in Azerbaijan. The speaker also touched upon Azerbaijan's correct policy in restoring permanent peace in the Caucasus and preventing the continuation of this conflict after liberating its territories from Armenian occupation after 30 years.
