International Green STEAM Festival kicks off in Azerbaijan

The International Green STEAM Festival, dedicated to promoting science and technology with a focus on ecology, has commenced in Azerbaijan.

According to Report, the event is organized by the STEAM Azerbaijan project and supported by the COP29 Presidency and the Ministry of Science and Education.

Speaking at the festival's opening ceremony, Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev emphasized the significance of the event in the field of education. "STEAM Azerbaijan is one of the most important projects in the country's education sector. The main goal of STEAM education is to prepare the future generation for new challenges," he stated.

Nigar Arpadarai, the UN High-Level Climate Champion for COP29, highlighted the importance of focusing on green technologies within the STEAM festival, especially in the lead-up to COP29.

Igrar Nazarov, the head of the STEAM Azerbaijan project, revealed that over 900 participants in 244 teams will take part in this year's festival's final stage. The two-day event will feature training sessions on climate change and sustainability, conducted by specialists from the COP29 Azerbaijan Operations Company.

The festival's primary objectives include promoting STEAM-based education, developing 21st-century skills among students, identifying their creative abilities, as well as holding the 29th session of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP29) in Azerbaijan and environmental improvement using a STEAM-based approach in connection with declaring 2024 as the Green World Solidarity Year in our country, promoting innovative solutions and projects for efficient use of water resources and alternative energy sources.
