Azerbaijan is uniquely positioned to demonstrate leadership in energy efficiency and climate action, Mary Burce Warlick, Deputy Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), Report informs.
Speaking at the presentation of Azerbaijan's energy efficiency policy roadmap during COP29, Warlick emphasized that for the IEA, energy efficiency is a crucial point in the global transition to clean energy.
She added that increasing energy efficiency while fulfilling the commitments of the Paris Agreement is very important on the path to greener and more sustainable economies: "As the host of COP29, Azerbaijan has a unique role to demonstrate leadership in energy efficiency and climate action. At the same time, Azerbaijan's energy system is going through a crucial phase."
The deputy director stated that this roadmap outlines concrete steps that Azerbaijan can take to achieve substantial energy savings. "This crucial moment at COP29 should be seen as a transition towards a more sustainable, efficient, and resilient future for Azerbaijan and beyond. We hope that today's event and program will be beneficial for Azerbaijan and the region," she noted.
