The COP29 team hopes that the conference to be held in Baku may have a significant impact on the fight against climate change, the Deputy Head of the Department of Foreign Policy Affairs of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, Head of the COP29 Organizing Committee Secretariat Habib Mikayilli said.
He made the remark at the 29th High-Level Meeting themed “Pathway to COP29: Sustainable and Resilient Future.”
According to him, COP29 will be historic, because the main topic of the conference to be held in Baku is financial issues: "It is impossible to eliminate the negative consequences of climate change without solving the financing issues."
Mikayilli noted that during the past six months, the COP29 team visited the capitals of the world's countries. They held consultations with the countries included in various negotiating groups to hear their opinions, as well as understand their priorities and their positions. It was very successful. Currently, the work of the COP29 team is at its most active stage.
