The 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) has begun in Baku, Azerbaijan, bringing together representatives from over 100 countries to discuss measures to combat climate change.
According to Report, Haber Global, a prominent Turkish television channel, is providing extensive coverage of the event, with its journalists and experts highlighting key moments and presenting relevant assessments and statements from participants.
One of the central events of the first day was the speech by Bunyamin Surmeli, chief meteorologist at Haber Global. He emphasized the critical situation regarding the global climate, stating that the world is already facing severe consequences due to climate change, as evidenced by the droughts in Azerbaijan, Spain, and Italy.
"Our planet is trying to find balance, but the effects of human activities are threatening this equilibrium," Surmeli stressed. He also noted that COP29 is discussing issues related to financing and adopting legislative measures to transition to cleaner production technologies.
The channel also covered the opening of the Türkiye Pavilion at COP29, which was attended by Turkish ministers, including Murat Kurum, Minister of Environment and Climate Change. In his speech, the minister mentioned that Türkiye has presented its strategic projects to combat climate change at COP29. He also expressed the importance of the conference in strengthening fraternal ties with Azerbaijan, emphasizing that Türkiye is represented at the event "by a strong team."
The Türkiye Pavilion features information about the "zero waste" program under the patronage of Türkiye's First Lady, Emine Erdogan.
