Global Media Group has organized a training themed "Sustainability Language for Media" within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the UN Global Compact, Report informs.
The purpose of the training organized in the Green Zone of COP29 is to ensure more active participation of Global Media Group in international platforms on sustainability, promote sustainable development through media, support media representatives in creating more effective and informative content on sustainability and climate change topics, as well as ensure better public awareness about climate change, environmental protection, and sustainability issues.
The training speaker, Head of Communications at the United Nations Global Compact Wynne Boelt, shared his international experience with media representatives from Global Media Group and emphasized the media's responsibility regarding climate change and sustainability issues: "Media plays a crucial role in informing the public, especially in highlighting climate problems. By covering important issues, media increases public awareness and influences a wider audience, driving collective action for a sustainable future. The steps and commitments taken by 'Global Media Group' in this regard are significant not only for Azerbaijan but also for achieving global sustainability goals."
Elnur Abdullayev, Chairman of the Board of Global Media Group, stated that the company's commitment and partnership with the UN Global Compact is an important step for the sustainable development of both the company and its constituent organizations: "This training confirms Global Media Group's commitments in sustainable development and demonstrates its determination to play an active role at national and international levels for a green future. As Global Media Group, we aim to increase awareness about a sustainable future both within the company and in society by strengthening educational efforts in this regard."
On October 9, 2024, Global Media Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the UN Global Compact. According to the document, the relevant organizations will implement joint measures to promote sustainable business practices and the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact in society.
