Countries can make significant strides in the fight against climate change by joining forces and working together, according to Claudia Muller, Parliamentary State Secretary at Germany's Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Report informs.
Muller revealed this during a panel discussion themed "Agri-Food Legacies from COP to COP: The Key to Achieving Global Climate Goals," held within the framework of COP29.
"We must be able to create synergy in the fight against climate change. In this regard, the COP to COP event is crucial, as it brings together the minister from the UK, representatives from COP28, and other parties. This compels us to move forward," Muller stated.
The official also highlighted that new activities are being developed to combat climate change: "Perhaps we don't need as many new activities or initiatives. We should continue our work by developing and expanding existing initiatives. By elevating current efforts to a new level, we can become stronger."
Muller emphasized that the participants at today's event are well aware of the critical role agriculture plays in the fight against climate change. "However, we must continue to emphasize these issues at the COPs," she added.
