Achieving effective and inclusive adaptation is extremely important, Green Climate Fund (GCF) representative Achala Abeysinghe said at the event "Progress in Development and Implementation of National Adaptation Plans: Accelerating Adaptation Measures," organized within COP29.
According to Report, she noted that National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) are strategic tools integrated into national development processes: "More than 100 countries have requested support from the Green Climate Fund, and over 100 grants for NAPs have been approved. Already 16 countries have submitted their plans to UNFCCC. We congratulate Azerbaijan on submitting their NAP this year."
Abeysinghe stressed the importance to continue supporting countries in planning and implementing adaptation measures: "Thanks to grants provided by the Global NAP Network with US support, countries can develop investment plans for adaptation. We are also attracting new sponsors to this process."
