Fondazione MAIRE: Awareness about urgency of energy transition in Azerbaijan high

In Azerbaijan, the majority of the population understands the importance of energy transition, General Manager of MAIRE Foundation Ilaria Catastini said during the presentation of the survey results at the Italian pavilion at COP29, Report informs.

Catastini noted that in September-October 2024, the MAIRE Foundation conducted a survey among 2,000 people in 12 countries.

According to the survey, 55% of respondents in Azerbaijan consider energy transition a priority, while in Kazakhstan it's 39%.

Additionally, 64% of respondents from Azerbaijan (surpassing countries like UAE, Saudi Arabia, and India) and 53% of respondents from Kazakhstan (surpassing Italy, the UK, the US, and China) consider energy transition an important element in fighting climate change.

In both Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, over 80% of respondents consider education and skills development important. This exceeds the indicators of India (71%), US and South Africa (75% each).

Catastini also noted that the energy transition requires significant workforce improvement in Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, creating conditions for more "green" jobs.
