Equal participation of people with disabilities at COP29 to be ensured

Azerbaijan has taken everything into account, from the density in the areas where COP29 will be held to the accessibility of the transportation system, Kamal Mammadov, an expert from the COP29 Accessibility Department, said in his statement to journalists, Report informs.

Mammadov stated that COP29 will be presented to the public as a new model:

"Work is being done on many issues that were previously not considered for people with hearing and speaking disabilities. For example, social services such as sign language interpreters in certain halls, the distribution of tactile maps and brochures written in Braille for people with visual impairments have been added."

The expert noted that repair services have also been created for wheelchair users.

Mammadov added that everything has been taken into account for equal participation of people with disabilities in various categories in at COP29 events:

"All work in these areas is already nearing completion. The organization of sign language translation services is also one of the important innovations. One of the most important aspects of the work is that the people working in the accessibility sector are persons with disabilities. People with disabilities have also been involved in the service areas."
