Soltanov: Customs authorities may direct part of their revenue to environmental projects

Customs authorities have more opportunities to achieve energy efficiency than other structures, COP29 Executive Director, Deputy Minister of Energy Elnur Soltanov said at the event "Green Customs - Dialogue of Leading Customs Officials" within COP29, Report informs.

According to him, the advantage of customs authorities in solving environmental tasks lies in having stable sources of income, unlike other government institutions.

"Customs authorities can play a key role in implementing environmental projects by directing part of their income to environmental protection. This independent source of funding is an important tool for green transformation," Soltanov said.

"Travelers entering the country can see that part of their payments is directed to environmental projects. This will become an effective tool for supporting green transformation initiatives," the deputy minister added.
