Azerbaijan is strengthening its leading position in regional and global energy policy by taking important steps in the "green" energy transition, Deputy Minister of Energy and CEO of COP29 Elnur Soltanov said at an event on creating infrastructure for achieving energy transition goals.
According to Report, Soltanov said the Trans-Caspian project has special significance in creating "green" energy corridors and is aimed at establishing Azerbaijan's new energy infrastructure.
"There are many issues in the region related to managing networks that generate electricity from residual fuel. Currently, international experience in managing power grids operating on more than 50% fossil fuels is insufficiently developed. Nevertheless, Azerbaijan's extensive experience in gas and oil infrastructure, as well as its developed financial and engineering base, provides the country with a significant advantage in this transition process," he noted.
Soltanov added that, considering Azerbaijan's experience, work continues actively on creating "green" energy corridors with Europe and Central Asia.
"The Trans-Caspian energy cable may become the first 'green' energy cable line, and the implementation of this project will be an important turning point in Azerbaijan's regional energy policy," he stated.
