Baku is an ideal place for holding the World Aviation Summit, Simon Hocquard, Director General of the Civil Air Navigation Services Organization (CANSO), told journalists, Report informs.
According to him, Baku is an excellent location for the event since the city will host COP29 in November:
“In this regard, Baku is an ideal place, because the possibility of using various energy sources is considered here, and this issue is also reflected in the agenda of COP29. The topic of climate change is also relevant for the aviation industry and poses major challenges for it. One of the common goals is to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050. We have to do a lot to achieve this.”
Hocquard noted that currently, the aviation sector accounts for about 2% of global emissions, and it will rise to 22% within the next 20 years if no action is taken.
