Deputy minister: Tashkent works on construction of China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway

Tashkent is working on the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway line, Uzbekistan's Deputy Minister of Transport Mamanbiy Omarov told a ministerial roundtable on "Sustainable, Digital Middle Corridor and Beyond" held within the framework of COP29 in Baku, Report informs.

"At the same time, we are working on the construction of the Trans-Afghan corridor. All these will create additional volume for the Middle Corridor. Thus, new modern methods should be implemented to further develop the corridor and increase transit potential, and simplify border crossing. Uzbekistan, together with Türkiye, has implemented a permit system for the first time in the world. At the same time, we implemented this with Kazakhstan. We will implement it with Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan in the very near future. Later, we will implement this with our other border countries, as well as with the E-permit system," Omarov noted.

According to the Uzbek official, his country plans to ensure digital interaction between business entities, government agencies, and citizens in the transport industry through the implementation of digital platforms for direct communication in a short time: "Digitalization will also accelerate integration into the global digital transport space for the export of transport services and development of transit. Thus, everyone understands that the economy cannot develop without transport."
