Azerbaijan is interested in using global platforms to strengthen support for agricultural sustainability, Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Agriculture Elchin Zeynalov said at the panel discussion "Financing the Transformation of the Agri-Food System" at COP29, Report informs.
According to Zeynalov, investments in climate-resilient agriculture are essential for protecting natural resources and building a sustainable future:
"Farmers need comprehensive support to adapt to climate change and ensure the productivity and sustainability of their farms. Supporting farmers in implementing new technologies and climate-smart practices is crucial for global food security. In Azerbaijan, there are various mechanisms to support farmers in transitioning to more sustainable and efficient farming methods. Along with financial mechanisms, there is an Agricultural Insurance Fund to protect farms from risks associated with natural disasters."
