The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which will be held in Azerbaijan this year, will strengthen the way to achieve the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C, the President of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, Dennis Francis, said in his address to the participants of the 11th Global Baku Forum, Report informs.
Francis highly appreciated the activity of the trio of COP co-chairs—Azerbaijan, the UAE, and Brazil: "We need exactly this type of leadership to achieve the necessary transformation. We all expect COP29 to be successful, with ambitious proposals to be put forward. This conference will help strengthen the path to achieving the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C and will accelerate adaptation measures."
