Danish minister: Abandoning fossil fuels is extremely important

Abandoning fossil fuels is extremely important, Denmark's Minister of Climate, Energy and Utilities, Lars Aagaard, told Report.

"Therefore, we do not agree with anything negative about this. Intense discussions are currently ongoing. I hope that a suitable way will be found. However, both Denmark and the European Union demonstrate a very clear position on this issue," the minister stated.

The Danish minister noted that the US statement about not accepting any appeals regarding fossil fuels is unacceptable to them: "We will not re-discuss the issues we agreed upon last year. The COP process is aimed at stopping climate change. We must do everything possible to reach the 1.5-degree target, and this requires a phased halt to fossil fuels. Of course, there are other issues like agriculture as well."
