Cote-d'Ivoire ecology minister: Crucial decisions to be made on COP29 in Baku

Critically important decisions on climate financing will be made as part of the COP29 in Baku, minister of environment, sustainable development and ecological transition of Côte d'Ivoire, Jacques Assahoré Konan, told Report.

Konan emphasized that Côte d'Ivoire is also struggling with the consequences of climate change.

He expressed confidence that at COP29, Azerbaijan and other countries will support developing African countries on the issue of climate financing.

"The whole world is fighting the consequences of climate change. This is the biggest problem of our time. African countries are among the most affected. The key issue remains ensuring adequate climate financing," he said.

The minister noted that the delegation from Côte d'Ivoire will come to Baku for COP29 and participate in discussions and decision-making processes on this issue.

"We will talk about the problems of the continent's countries and ask for support from Azerbaijan and the international community. At COP29 in Baku, critically important decisions will be made that could become a turning point in the matter of climate financing. As we prepare for COP29, we all must speak with a unified position and focus our attention on mobilizing climate financing for African countries," he said.
