COP29 volunteer training program concludes

The final phase of the three-month extensive training program for COP29 volunteers has concluded, marking a significant milestone in the preparations for the global climate conference COP29, set to take place in Baku from November 11-22.

Report informs, citing the Azerbaijan COP29 Operating Company, that 1200 COP29 volunteers participated in the final stage of the training.

In total, 3000 individuals have been selected to serve as volunteers at COP29.

At the opening ceremony, COP29 President-Designate Mukhtar Babayev emphasized the significance of the COP29 conference and the crucial role that youth and COP29 volunteers will play in this process. He expressed confidence that the volunteers will successfully fulfill their assigned tasks.

Narmin Jarchalova, Chairperson of the Azerbaijan COP29 Operating Company and Chief Operating Officer, stressed that the successful execution of COP29 depends, in part, on the work of the volunteers.

Via online connection, Simon Stiell, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, congratulated the COP29 volunteers on their participation in this globally significant event and wished them success. A video message from UN Secretary-General António Guterres to the COP29 volunteers was also presented during the event.
