Today, as part of his visit to the Green Zone, the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan and COP29 President Mukhtar Babayev visited the pavilion of AZCHEMCO, an Azerbaijani producer of liquid and water-soluble fertilizers.
Babayev and the arriving guests were shown a video about the history of the project on restoring saline soils and returning them to agriculture as part of AZCHEMCO's cooperation with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Co-founder Levent Ozdemir and Vice President of the company Rifat Sultan-zada presented to the guests the company's successes in this project. Based on laboratory studies by Azelab and Intertek, it was revealed that the soil salinity index decreased from 3.6 to 0.3, and electrical conductivity from 9140 to 291, confirming the possibility of using saline soil in agriculture.
At the end of the visit, the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan and COP29 President Mukhtar Babayev planted strawberry seedlings in the restored soil. In the next stage, after the fruits ripen, soil and strawberry samples will be transferred to the Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan for approbation for chemical trace content.
