The COP29 Presidency is observing promising signs from parties beginning to interact with each other on various elements of the New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG), Azerbaijan's Deputy Foreign Minister and Lead Negotiator of COP29 Yalchin Rafiyev said during a press conference held in Baku, Report informs.
"Regarding the negotiations on NCQG, we have called upon parties to establish direct communication with each other and take responsibility for developing joint solutions. I am pleased to report that we are witnessing encouraging indications of parties engaging with one another on different elements of the goal," stated Rafiyev.
However, the deputy minister noted that the current pace of work is excessively slow. "We cannot leave numerous unresolved issues and defer their discussion to the summit at the political level. We urge everyone to intensify their efforts and focus on the necessity of achieving significant progress in the realm of NCQG," he emphasized.
