COP29 Lead Negotiator: "We observe constructive approaches from all states"

Yalchin Rafiyev, the lead negotiator for COP29, has stated that all countries are demonstrating a constructive approach towards the upcoming climate conference.

According to Report, speaking at a media seminar on effective communication strategies for COP29, held as part of the "29 Climate Conversations: The Road to COP29" event, Rafiyev emphasized the complexity of the negotiation process in the current international relations landscape.

"The climate issue itself has a unique complexity," Rafiyev noted. "Countries have varying attitudes towards climate change. This year is even more complicated as we are discussing and trying to make decisions on finance. The convergence of climate and finance further complicates our already challenging negotiation agenda."

Despite these challenges, Rafiyev highlighted the positive aspect of countries' attitudes, stating, "So far, we have observed a constructive approach from all states. No country has exhibited any difficulties or problems, which is a positive factor. Currently, there is a tendency among states to take steps towards each other."

Rafiyev also pointed out that this year is an election year worldwide, with over 4 billion people expected to participate in voting across more than 60 countries.
