An agreement must be reached regarding climate finance, Patricia Janet Scotland, Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Nations, stated in her statement to journalists on the sidelines of COP29 in Baku, Report informs.
"We have no other choice. Developing small island states are either being submerged due to rising sea levels or are unable to pay their debts due to the climate crisis," Patricia Janet Scotland emphasized.
According to the Commonwealth of Nations secretary-general, in this sense, the world must make a decision about the existence of small island states: "The threats to existence are not tomorrow's issue, but today's issue. Therefore, we must find financial resources to save the planet."
