Chile ready to share experience in renewable energy with Azerbaijan, minister says

In an interview with Report, Chile's Minister of Environment Maisa Rojas discussed cooperation with Azerbaijan in renewable energy, expectations for COP29, and the importance of reaching consensus at the climate conference.

- What areas of cooperation do you see between Chile and Azerbaijan in the context of renewable energy?

Chile is an economy that is open to the world and we believe in multilateralism and hence we're very interested in discussing with all countries. Chile, as a developing country, has a high reliance on renewable energy and their energy matrix and I think we would be very happy to share with Azerbaijan our experience in having lots of wind.

We would like to share our experience in wind energy with Azerbaijan. Your country also has many opportunities for using wind as a source of eco-friendly energy. So happy to collaborate and discuss these things further at COP and beyond.

What is your expectation from COP29 and how do you assess the progress on the Article 6.4 during the first day of this climatic conference?

I think we always need good news at COP. COP is a very complicated process because of the multilateral and consensus nature of the process. So, starting with points of negotiation where there is agreement is important to give the countries confidence that we can actually advance when we come together and discuss things.
