Bulgarian representative: Necessary to diversify connections with Central Asian countries

One of the main priorities of the transport sector is creating efficient, reliable, and sustainable transport connections and supply chains, Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications of Bulgaria Zhivko Petrov said at the ministerial roundtable within COP29.

Report informs that, according to him, the transport sector meets the needs of citizens and businesses by providing them with necessary goods, raw materials, and markets. In this regard, the diversification of transport routes, especially connections with Central Asian countries, becomes even more important, Petrov said.

"The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor), which covers various countries including China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye, is an important link between Europe and Asia. The transport potential of Bulgaria's seaports is significant, as evidenced by their inclusion in the Trans-European Transport Network. Our ports are connected to the road and railway system, and our efforts are focused on modernizing connections with the country's inland areas, making maritime transport a key component of modality," he said.
