Baku Declaration on SPECA Climate-Smart Cities Forum signed at COP29

The Baku Declaration on SPECA Climate-Smart Cities Forum has been signed within the framework of COP29.

Report informs, citing the Ministry of Economy, that the declaration was signed at the SPECA region's green cities leaders roundtable, organized by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The event attended by representatives from Azerbaijan, SPECA countries, the UN, and international financial institutions aimed to exchange experience in urban climate actions and discuss innovative approaches and financial solutions.

EBRD Regional Director for the Caucasus Alkis Drakinos, Green Cities Program Head Lin O'Grady, and COP29 Global Initiatives Group Co-Chair Elmar Mammadov emphasized the importance of cooperation within SPECA for addressing climate issues.

Head of Ganja Executive Authority Niyazi Bayramov and First Deputy Chairman of Dushanbe City Jamshid Tabarzoda stated that the SPECA Climate Cities Forum would create conditions for achieving common climate goals.

The document, prepared within the roundtable framework, establishes the participating cities' commitments to jointly implement climate initiatives.
