More than 17% of electricity produced in Azerbaijan comes from renewable energy sources (RES), Araz Mammadzada, Director of the Training and Innovation Center of Azerishig OJSC, told Report.
"Currently, the wind park owned by Azerishig produces an average of 6 million kWh of electricity monthly. The total capacity of the park is 50 MW. With such capacity, it can provide electricity to about 100,000 subscribers annually. This means that the energy needs of a certain portion of consumers are met specifically by this park," he emphasized.
According to Mammadzada, electricity obtained in Azerbaijan from small hydroelectric power plants, solar power plants, and other sources is integrated into the general system: "I can say that more than 17% of electricity produced in the country comes from renewable sources. Of course, increasing this share requires centralized and decentralized management systems. Their implementation based on innovative solutions is being applied both in liberated territories and in other regions of the country."
