COP29 and partnership in climate, innovation, and trade within the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Program (CAREC) is a key development direction for member countries, Elmar Mammadov, Head of Economic Cooperation Department of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry and co-chair of the Global Initiatives Group of COP29 Action Agenda, said during the "CAREC Partnership Ministerial Meeting on Climate, Innovation and Trade" held on the sidelines of COP29 in Baku, Report informs.
"As COP29 presidency, we have already presented a very ambitious and comprehensive action agenda: 14 global and 8 regional initiatives. I would like to invite CAREC member countries to join and support these initiatives," the diplomat emphasized.
Mammadov also specifically noted the importance of the Baku Initiative on Climate Finance, Investment and Trade (BICFIT): "Today, we successfully launched the BICFIT dialogue. I believe that the CAREC Partnership on Climate Innovation and Trade will serve as a regional legacy and complement the implementation of the BICFIT dialogue. I thank the Asian Development Bank for cooperation in developing all these initiatives during COP29 presidency. I invite all participating countries to support the global initiatives of the COP29 presidency."
