Azerbaijan, US discuss expansion of renewable energy co-op

Azerbaijan and the United States have held discussions on expanding the use of renewable energy sources, Report informs, citing Azerbaijan’s Economy Ministry.

The talks took place between Azerbaijan's Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov and Geoffrey R. Pyatt, the US Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources, within the framework of the COP29 climate conference.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the priorities of bilateral cooperation, the importance of increasing the use of renewable energy sources, and the prospects for attracting investments in sustainable business models.

They also reviewed Azerbaijan's successful adaptation of its economic development model to global challenges such as reducing emissions, ensuring climate resilience, and transitioning to low-carbon business strategies.

Minister Jabbarov provided information about a project to export green energy from Central Asian countries to Europe via Azerbaijan.

The parties shared their thoughts on promoting international cooperation to stabilize global supply in the green energy transition, expanding the use of renewable energy sources in Azerbaijan, and the outlook for investment flows into sustainable business models.
