As part of the ongoing preparations for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), scheduled to take place in Baku November 11th to 22nd this year, the Government of Azerbaijan has introduced a series of measures to facilitate travel for the dignitaries, delegations, and other guests attending COP29. To this end, the COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company has launched a dedicated portal to obtain the COP29 Special Visa, Report informs.
The new online platform, accessible at www.evisa.gov.az/cop29, has been launched in collaboration with the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan as a module of ASAN Visa Portal. It aims to streamline the visa application process for COP29 participants. To accommodate participants from the nearly 200 countries expected to attend COP29, the portal is available in English, German, French, Spanish, Hebrew, Italian, Russian, Arabic, Persian, Chinese, and Korean. The portal offers 24/7 support and a fully electronic, paperless visa process.
It is important to note that officials, delegations, and other guests wishing to obtain the COP29 Special Visa must first register through the UNFCCC’s online registration system. Once the application is completed, the COP29 Special Visa can be obtained free of charge within three business days.
Detailed guidelines for obtaining the COP29 Special Visa are available through an electronic manual and an instructional animation .
In a significant move to facilitate the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Baku, the Government of Azerbaijan has introduced a free e-visa system for accredited delegates.
The UNFCCC secretariat told Report that delegates can obtain their visas through the official e-visa portal or via Azerbaijan's diplomatic missions and consulates abroad. The streamlined process ensures that visas are issued within just three working days following the submission of an online application or an in-person request at Azerbaijani diplomatic offices.
