Azerbaijan has held discussions with Latvia regarding renewable energy development, Report informs, citing the Azerbaijani Energy Ministry
According to the Ministry of Energy, these discussions took place during a meeting between Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and Latvia's Minister of Climate and Energy Kaspars Melnis within the framework of COP29.
They discussed the COP29 Presidency's energy initiatives and the importance of Azerbaijan's green energy production and export projects for energy security and energy transition across a wide geography.
It was stated that the share of renewable energy in installed power capacity through wind and solar energy projects will increase to 33% by 2027 and to 35.5% by 2030. This indicates a high development dynamic in the country's green energy sector.
During the meeting, there was also an extensive exchange of views on green energy and green gas supply from Azerbaijan and Central Asia to Europe and Türkiye, as well as the implementation of energy storage systems to increase the sustainability of renewable energy.
Latvia shared its experience in renewable energy, and perspectives for cooperation in the energy sector were evaluated.
