Women's leadership in combating climate change is crucial, Professor Sandra Creamer, a lawyer at the Queensland University of Technology in Australia, said during the event themed "Gender, Climate, and Security" held as part of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in Baku, Azerbaijan, Report informs.

According to Professor Creamer, women in her country and Pacific communities are disproportionately affected by the negative impacts of climate change, yet they play a vital role in climate resilience and security matters. She highlighted that women possess crucial knowledge and skills to protect their communities' natural resources and find sustainable solutions to combat the effects of climate change.

"We should ensure greater participation of women in climate-related discussions and support their leadership," Professor Creamer stressed. She also pointed out that gender inequality poses a significant obstacle in the fight against climate change and underscored the importance of women taking the lead in this process

“Recognizing and supporting women's roles is essential for ensuring sustainable development at both local and global levels.”

In conclusion, Professor Creamer called upon the international community to take steps to amplify women's voices, emphasizing that women's leadership is a powerful factor in the battle against climate change.
