Australia welcomes the Baku Harmoniya Climate Initiative for Farmers, Australian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Miles Armitage said during panel discussions "Agricultural-food heritage from COP to COP: key to achieving global climate goals" organized within the framework of COP29, Report informs.
According to the ambassador, droughts and floods can affect society: "When the climate becomes more changeable and unpredictable, helping communities during difficult times can only be beneficial. There is no single way to implement sustainability, but by sharing experiences and knowledge, farmers and governments can have the necessary tools to adapt to changing climate."
The ambassador stated that Australia has signed several international climate initiatives, including the Agriculture Innovation Mission for Climate, International Drought Resilience Alliance, Agriculture for Development Agenda, Global Methane Pledge, and Forests and Climate Leaders Partnership: "These initiatives help Australia focus its attention on concrete actions that help increase our climate ambitions and find practical solutions. However, it's important to acknowledge that while doing this, we need to work with farmers for better policy. Australian farmers are also independently and actively finding innovative ways to improve land management practices, soil health, and biodiversity, reviewing their systematic approach to farming practices and land management."
