The agreements reached at COP29 are of exceptional importance for the future of humanity and the global climate agenda, Azerbaijan's Prime Minister Ali Asadov said at the CIS heads of government meeting in Moscow on December 12.
"During COP29, crucial decisions were made, including the provision of climate financing to developing countries amounting to a record sum of $300 billion per year, as well as the activation of the Loss and Damage Fund. The achieved agreements, supported initiatives, and adopted decisions are of exceptional importance for humanity's future and the global climate agenda," stated Asadov.
He reported that 80 heads of state and government, along with more than 76,000 registered participants, attended COP29.
"Azerbaijan's presidency once again demonstrated strong political will and professionalism, which allowed the conference to be conducted at a worthy level, achieving important results and breakthrough in multilateral negotiations despite a large-scale, baseless campaign launched against Azerbaijan and even calls to boycott such an important event for the global community," said Asadov.
