Alexander Zuev: Azerbaijan's hosting of COP29 shows its interest in environmental protection

Environmental factors should be aligned with national action plans. An update of international mine action standards will be published soon.

According to Report, these ideas were mentioned in the video address by Alexander Zuev, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Rule of Law and Security Institutions in the Department of Peacekeeping Operations, to the participants of the 3rd international conference on “Mitigating Environmental Impact of Landmines: Resource Mobilization for Safe and Green Future " in Baku.

He thanked the government of Azerbaijan for its efforts to protect the environment, especially for presenting mine action as the 18th sustainable development goal (SDG).

According to Zuev, Azerbaijan's hosting of COP29 also shows that it is interested in doing work in environmental protection: “I highly appreciate the work done under the leadership of UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Vladanka Andreeva. Let's use this meeting as a catalyst and work for a greener future."
