Adil Karimli: Protection of cultural heritage should be part of global measures to combat climate change

Culture plays a central role in shaping a positive climate agenda, Azerbaijan's Minister of Culture Adil Karimli said at a ministerial meeting on the sidelines of COP29 in Baku, Report informs.

"We are proud to host today's ministerial meeting and look forward to a positive outcome. During COP28, more than 30 governments and intergovernmental and cultural organizations marched with a group of friends for culture-based action. This innovative project, promoted by our colleagues from the UAE, marked a breakthrough in recognizing the role of culture in addressing the climate crisis. Today we continue this work," said the minister.

He noted that the results of the current meeting will become a roadmap for further joint climate actions related to culture.

He added that the protection of cultural heritage should be part of global measures to combat climate change.
