11 football clubs establish climate alliance at COP29

The Football Clubs Alliance for Climate Action has been created at COP29 held in Baku, Report informs.

The alliance includes 10 football clubs with experience in sustainable development and climate change action, as well as the Azerbaijani club Qarabag.

The participants include English clubs Liverpool and Tottenham, Spanish clubs Atletico Madrid and Real Betis, Turkish clubs Fenerbahce and Galatasaray, Italian club Udinese, Portuguese club Porto, Brazilian club Flamengo, and Swedish club Malmö.

The clubs, actively engaged in environmental initiatives and implementing sustainable development projects, signed a document establishing the alliance.

Within the alliance, the clubs expressed their readiness to implement sustainable practices, raise awareness about climate issues, and promote climate action using football's influence. The clubs intend to cooperate not only among themselves but also with other relevant organizations, including Sports for Climate Action initiative by the UNFCCC.
