Vusal Gasimli: One in five individual entrepreneurs in Azerbaijan is woman

Executive Director of the Center for Economic Reforms Analysis and Communication (CERAC) Vusal Gasimli met with a delegation of the Association of Women Entrepreneurship Development (AWED).

According to Gasimli, the association established within the implementation of the Strategic Road Maps adopted by President Ilham Aliyev plays a vital role in the development of women's entrepreneurship, increasing women's entrepreneurship, protecting the interests of women entrepreneurs, and providing them with business services based on transparency and social responsibility:

"In 2020, 174,329 business entities were registered, of which 9,230 were commercial legal entities, and 165,099 were individual entrepreneurs. The founders of 14.8% (1,373) of commercial legal entities and 20.4% (33,742) of individual entrepreneurs are women. International comparisons show that the development of women's entrepreneurship is important in accelerating economic growth, improving social welfare, and ensuring inclusion in the country."

Sakina Babayeva, Chairwoman of the Board of AWED, noted the importance of state support for the development of women's entrepreneurship, as well as presented proposals in the fields of taxation, customs, credit, and insurance. Gasimli expressed confidence that the suggestions made within the public-private dialogue will enrich the reform agenda.

Opportunities for cooperation between innovative projects of CERAC - AzExport, Digital Trade Hub and http://EnterpriseAzerbaijan.com portal and AWED were discussed. The delegation also got acquainted with the "Single Window" Export Support Center activities under the CERAC.
