Trade between Turkey and Azerbaijan is currently about $4.5 billion, and the goal is to bring this figure to $15 billion, Head of the Turkish-Azerbaijani Business Council at the Council for Foreign Economic Relations of Turkey (DEIK) Selcuk Akat said, Report informs, referring to Anadolu Agency.
"The heads of state set a goal to bring the volume of trade to $15 billion. We have fulfilled the task so far only by a third. I am sure that we won’t only achieve soon, but also surpass the targets, largely due to investments in Karabakh," Akat said.
He noted that DEIK continues cooperation with structures and companies of Azerbaijan, including online.
He stressed that Azerbaijan has a stable and robust economy, and the oil industry plays an essential role in this.
"Oil prices are growing, which is also in the interests of Baku. Azerbaijani oil is traded at a slightly higher price due to the better quality," the DEIK representative stated.
At the same time, he drew attention to the economic potential of the regions liberated from the Armenian occupation.
"Large investments are planned in the Karabakh region. Therefore it is quite logical to assume that this part of the republic will become one of the drivers of Azerbaijan’s economic growth," Akat said.
Investments in Nagorno-Karabakh will allow not only achieving but also surpassing the target indicator of trade turnover, the representative of DEIK added.
"We should consider Turkish companies’ work for Karabakh’s development not as a business, but as a task," Akat said.
