Think tanks of Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan to cooperate

An agreement was reached on cooperation between the major think tanks of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, Report informs, citing the Center for Economic Reforms Analysis and Communication.

This issue was agreed upon in the meeting of the institution's executive director, Vusal Gasimli, with the delegation led by the First Deputy Director of the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Akramjon Nematov.

At the meeting, Gasimli recalled the visit of President Ilham Aliyev to Uzbekistan and stressed a great potential for cooperation between the countries. He emphasized that there are three main directions of collaboration. These are an economic partnership towards increasing trade turnover, the attraction of mutual investment projects to both countries, and the development of strategic cooperation in transport and logistics.

The executive director also specially emphasized and expressed his gratitude for the support provided by Uzbekistan during the 44-day Patriotic War and later in the process of restoration of territories liberated from occupation.

Nematov expressed that he was delighted with his first visit to Azerbaijan, adding that the meeting of the presidents a while ago and the implementation of the documents signed by their leadership can turn both countries into a transregional center in Central Asia. The Uzbek official added that the number of Azerbaijani companies operating in his country is currently more than 300 and emphasized the importance of cooperation in the industry field.

He spoke about the guest country's participation in the reconstruction of territories freed from the occupation in Azerbaijan, as well as the fact that a new type of school, known as the Presidential School in Uzbekistan, will be built in Fuzuli.
